Thursday Carter Mountain Doors

Doors! Rainbows! Blue Ridge Mountains! Laughter! Bear! Music! Food! Drinks! Yes, all of these things I experienced in one location…where you ask? Atop Carter Mountain, one of several orchards located here or nearby in Charlottesville, Virginia. Like our local vineyards, Carter Mountain has various evening activities allowing us to enjoy the summer weather, breathtaking vista views, and of course the local wines. There were a few doors worth sharing with Norm and gang!

A slightly different angle.

As you can see we had a bit of rain but not enough to send us home, just under the deck and then on the front porch for the rest of the evening. Between the raindrops I found this…

Thursday Doors is Norm Frampton’s way of hinging us together so we can share our door photo collections each week. Thank you Norm, and others, for feeding the fetish! Until next time…

    • I understand your concern Manja, we see them everywhere here! I must admit I was a bit surprised to see him frolicing amongst the grapes…was on the lookout for a cub but none to be seen on that night.

    • Thank you I.J. I feel so blessed when I get out and about in my ‘backyard’ and each time I do I wonder ‘why I don’t it more often’. I believe a little thing called LIFE does get in the way now and again, right?

    • Thanks Marian, I managed to capture this when everyone scattered during the rain. Had no idea how perfect that single shot was until I was home – felt so lucky.

    • And on a rainy evening. This orchard is where I spent many a field trip with my young children back in the day. Today the views I appreciate are mingled with visions of them running through the orchard with bags of apples in hand. Seems like another lifetime ago.

  1. Great photos of the sunset through the doorway. I always find those kinds of photos hard to take.

Deborah had me searching to find the little red wagon. I laughed when I finally found it 🙂

  2. What a beautiful view from the country store. I love that little red wheel barrow or wagon on top of the door! It had a tag so, for sale? I would have been sorely tempted to buy it!

Also, how sweet are that little shack and the rainbow!! What a lovely evening.
