Thanks to my travel buddy, I have these two fine South Carolina doors to contribute this morning. Thank you Beth for thinking of me while strolling past the churches of Charleston.
I found the history of The First Baptist Church intriguing and diverse. If you’re interested please visit this site and click on the printable PDF history for the details.
Another notable door, it leads into The Mother Church of the Diocese of South Carolina. Again, a timeline format is available here if you’d like to delve into the history.
This was an easy post for me today, no walking or traveling for my photos, but I know they’ll get lots of mileage as part of Norm’s Thursday Doors extravaganza. Time to explore what you all contributed this week. Until next time…
I love freebies like this, but they always make me want to go to where they doors are. 🙂

Yes they are, would love to see the entire building. Now I’ll need to put this on my list!

Those doors to St. Philips church are so tall. Based on the position of the knob, I assumed there would be a horizontal split further down where the top of the door actually was… but no. It looks like the door panels really are that tall! Very nice!

You’re right, hadn’t noticed this! I saw the handrails, their height, compared to door height.

Looked up a family surname on the baptist site burial list just out of curiosity and found one. Died of consumption. Hard life back then. Good of your friend to share with you and thanks for the links 🙂

Thank you for sharing this~ I in turn will share with my friend. Coincidentally, her mother does geneology so she will be more than interested that her photo brought you closer to your family history. ♥
