Thursday Pittsburgh Doors #thursdaydoors

Last week I was back in Pittsburgh, and it still is the great town I remember from my past. Lots of good eating (and drinking) options and beautiful buildings within the city and nearby neighborhoods. We rented an Airbnb in the Point Breeze North neighborhood, an entirely new section to explore. We walked the pups every day and felt familiarity soon settle in. Good thing, too, as the Pittsburgh Marathon was happening which closed several nearby streets we normally would travel. Recognizing the parks and businesses nearby helped us navigate the Sunday morning closures which of course was when we all were returning home. Luckily, we successfully got our kids and granddaughter to the airport and us back to our Airbnb. Question: Have any of you driven on the For Buses Only routes? I believe these routes run between the various bus transit stations allowing for unimpeded bus travel. Well, we accidentally entered this system while trying to get back to our Airbnb and as you would expect, not a lot of traffic. It did bypass several of the closed streets and eventually we found our way home. Mr. E'ville and I are still laughing at that snafu!
As I mentioned, we roamed the neighborhoods every day which afforded me new doors (many of these homes were built in the early 1900's so maybe 'new old' doors) to admire. Here are a few...
I found these last two doors interesting as their mail slots were located at the bottom and not in the middle, a new feature for me. It looks like Mr. Snaky could enter that blue door's mail slot as it was wide open. No thank you, I'll stick with my above ground mailbox.

Thanks for visiting me today and if you'd like to discover other doors from around the globe, please visit our fearless leader, Dan, and his weekly photo challenge, Thursday Doors. You may be inspired to contribute a door of your own! Until next time...🚪

  1. I’m sure you know I love Pittsburgh doors. What you don’t know is my niece’s husband also ended up driving on the buses only road. The last time we were all in the ‘burgh. We laughed over that for days.
