You drop weightlessly from nowhere
yet I sense when you meet my crown
then slide downward, wicking to my shoulders.
You gather on random branches
displaced on your journey earthward
missing nearby streams overflowing pebbled edges.
You collect on still green foliage where
you’ve pooled into plentiful offerings for
nearby insects or grazing wildlife.
Light drizzling mist speaks in crepe-thin whispers
only to be heard by this interloper
who focuses on the layers in her foreground.
I appreciate the intricacies of your travel
and am grateful to witness your journey
under grey skies releasing quiet winter rain.

Love the poem and the pictures. A perfect pairing.

Thanks Marian, these pics I took just before our ‘heat wave’ we now are experiencing. Where is my winter wonderland I’ve been dreaming of? Feeling cheated…
