I recently enjoyed an afternoon at Early Mountain Vineyard with a few girlfriends. This vineyard is part of the Monticello Wine Trail and is located a bit north of me in Madison, Virginia. It was a warm January day (yes, we hit the mid-seventies that day!) and were able to sit outside on their patio for wine and nibbles. When driving up to the vineyard I spied a few very old structures and knew I'd need a closer look before leaving. Thank you to my friend for indulging my door curiosity, ie doorosity.

I have no history on this building but it resembles the icehouses I've seen in the past. I will update this post should I glean any details on my next visit. If you're ever in Madison with an hour or two to fill, I recommend a stop at Early Mountain Vineyard.

Thursday Doors is a weekly challenge hosted by Dan of No Facilities where doornatics around the globe share interesting doors they’ve met along the way. If you’d like to contribute a door or two, there’s always room for more! Until next time…🚪

[…] this slightly sloping barn and it's three doors. Compare the similarities with this much larger barn or icehouse I shared last month that also is located on a vineyard property. Welcome back to Dan, […]

You know I love barns, Denise. This one has stood for a long time. Perhaps it started life as an ice house. Whatever its purpose, I like seeing it.

Me, too. I look forward to returning when the ground is dryer and hopefully to get a bit of history.

Even more fabulous would’ve been to see the other side. The field was a bit muddy so perhaps next time. Thanks for reading me today, Sheree.

I’m sure you’re correct, Miriam. Hopefully, I’ll get insight on its function and age.
