St. Peter Thursday Doors #thursdaydoors

Today I am sharing doors I met while touring the cemetery and catacombs of St. Peter’s in Salzburg, Austria, the oldest monastery in the German-speaking world. Walking through the cemetery grounds was quite peaceful and I was taken by the abundance of heather growing there, placed in urns and other striking vessels by loved ones who remain dedicated to keeping this space alive. We spent quite awhile walking the cemetery paths winding us around this sacred space. We then walked up the steep, cool, stone steps of the catecombs leading us to alcoves and shrines that hosted worship for centuries. I am so glad for this visit.

I am not impressed with the limited sites offering up information about the cemetery and catacombs so I’m not including any links here. I will, however, encourage you to visit Dan here where we doorlovers meet weekly to share our old and new, wooden and iron, colorful and bland, ornate and simple doors from around the globe. Enjoy exploring the other door contributors who posted this week. Until next time…🚪
