feathered therapy

We are graced with mourning doves who picked our home for theirs. We found them first roosting in our uncompleted garage during the early stages of construction and they’ve been with us since. For several years, Mr. E’ville and I have witnessed the various stages of nest construction, egg sitting, bald little heads peaking above their twigged beds, and fledgling flight lessons. This final stage is the scariest of all because of the natural predators who most likely are also watching. Last month, we thought we lost one of these babies to a neighboring cat only to find him returned to his perch late the next day. We feel special they remain close while also infiltrating the neighborhood dove clans and wonder if they will drop in when we return to the beach next month.
